SHACKLETON Blended Malt. Inspired by the whisky left behind by Antarctica by Sir Ernest Shackleton in the early 1900s and discovered frozen but intact over 100 years later, this blended malt continues in the footsteps of The Discovery and The Journey. It’s created once again by Master Blender Richard Patterson based on the flavour profile of Shackleton’s favourite tipple, though now more accessible than the aforementioned limited edition releases.
TASTING NOTES:
Following the success of Journey and Discovery, this release of Shackleton is a mainstream, accessible version. With notes of vanilla, honey and orchard fruits, this is a fitting tribute to the great explorer.
AROMA
Vanilla, toffee apple, brioche, Manuka honey and hints of marmalade followed by cinnamon, banana bread and ginger cake.
PALATE
Treacle toffee, Demerara sugar and sweet sultanas, glazed pineapple, freshly baked crusted bread and mango cake.
FINISH
Lingering butterscotch and waxy orange.
