Satsuma plum-smelling and peppery; plus other mace-like spiciness. Attacks really peppery and builds dry, brick, dusty tannins. There’s those plums again as well as dried citrus peel and sweet-savoury prosciutto-like flavours. The best Frankland Estate red I’ve tasted in ages.
With average vine age now over 18 years and the soft cool ripening conditions, we believe this to be one of Frankland Estate’s most structured and elegant Shiraz wines, to date. This wine shows all the characteristics of a well made cool climate Shiraz through white pepper and spice characters and a core of generous fruit. Structured to cellar for at least 15 years, but enjoy now.
